Brooklyn Horror Film Festival 2022 Awards Announced

The week long Brooklyn Horror Film Festival 2022, presented by Shudder, has wrapped up its 7th edition which has turned out to be another successful event. The festival featured a number of different program sections including Nightmare Fuel, Head Trip, Home Invasion, and Slayed—along with a number of shorts. The festival hosted special screenings of films such as Give Me An A (read Taylor’s review) which was followed with a panel of guests that included film’s lead creative producer and director Natasha Halevi, segment directors Monica Moore-Suriyage and Loren Escandon, actor Sean Gunn, and Planned Parenthood Senior Director of News Kate Smith.. All proceeds from the sold-out screening went to the New York Abortion Fund. Alongside this special event, BHFF also hosted the premieres of titles such as Influencer (read Taylor’s review), Sinphony , and Summoners.

This year’s Main Competition awards were decided by a jury of the following: filmmaker Zach Clark, HuffPost Senior Culture Editor Candice Frederick, and author Kate Robertson.

“This is so meaningful to our team because this film is really all about the audience and creating a space for discussion with an audience,” said GIVE ME AN A executive producer and director Natasha Halevi. “We hope people really see this as a different type of film that’s made for conversation more than anything. We really did want to put the audience first, and this makes it seem like we maybe did that! Hope everyone who sees this is inspired to talk to more people about women’s reproductive rights and to go vote!”
