FrightFest 2022: The Countdown is On!

Arrow’s FrightFest,the number one horror and fantasy film festival in the United Kingdom, returns this year for its 23rd edition. This year the festival will run for five days (August 25th-August 29th) at Cineworld Leicester Square and the Prince Charles Cinema. This year the film lineup boasts a variety of horror and fantasy films  from all over the globe.

This year’s festival showcases a diverse range of films from the future of cinema. Here are some numbers for you:17 countries represented across five continents, 32 world premieres⸺22 of those world premieres, and 18 United Kingdom premieres. All together there are over 70+ feature films and shorts being screened (some for the first time ever!) ON TOP OF: Q&A’s, a huge lineup of guests, exclusive trailers, and the pre-festival pub quiz hosted by The Evolution of Horror Podcast. 

The Discovery Strand showcase of the film festival focuses on screening films from all over the world. This year FrightFest will be premiering Cyprian paranormal thriller The Ghosts of Monday, Japan’s fantasy film New Religion, and Emily Hagin’s new feature Sorry About The Demon. The films showcased this year represent a wonderful diversity that is appreciated and acknowledged throughout the genre. 

For the fifth year in a row, “First Blood '' makes a return to the festival. The 2022 class has a wonderful showcase of films that highlight the new talent within the genre filmmaking industry. This year feature film by Scott Lyus’s Walking Against The Rain will be screening on Saturday 27th August at the Prince Charles Cinema.
